Born in Bath in 1997, Bethany graduated with an undergraduate degree in English Literature at the University of Exeter in 2019 and later trained to become an English teacher. In love with the written word, Bethany uses inspiration from folklore and poetry to craft her multilayered and mythic visual art. For Bethany, art is a form of play and joy, it should never seek perfection, for it connects the creator with a freer, more imaginative and more divinely childlike version of themselves. Art is also healing. As a previous wellbeing practioner, Bethany uses making as a therapeutic and cathartic practice which supports mindfulness, contemplation and greater self-knowledge.

Bethany has a deep rooted love of nature which stems from her experiences walking through fields and forests as a child. She enjoys birdwatching with her family and watching waves roll across wet sands under the rain. She collects pebbles and molds small items to mimic the earth from clay. Each of Bethany’s pieces are deeply entrenched in the green Earth - the beauty and mystery of it.

She has previously collaborated with local musicians, poets, writers and directors to produce pieces of art that both echo a love of nature and a love for all of the arts, she is keen to explore more collaborative projects so please get in contact if you’re interested!

In her day job, Bethany is a teacher to young adults with SEND needs, supporting them to develop the key life and social skills needed to succeed in the world after education. Bethany is a passionate believer in educating and caring for the people and spaces around her, this is reflected in her day job and in deep love of the arts.
